June Clinic -PCH

We made the long trip to clinic this month. The timing was good and was the day after camp! We had two days of camp and then clinic. Presley took a much needed nap on Thursday!
Clinic was a little long but routine. It feels good to say routine.
Her numbers look good and I always love hearing from the doctor "everything looks great". I always breath a little deeper after hearing those words.
Her ANC is 2,800-- still a little high so her Thursday chemo pills were increased from 4 tabs to 5 tabs. She is about 100% on her methotrexate and still only 25-50% on her 6mp. Those are the two oral chemos that she currently takes. We got her IV chemo and her antibiotic for pneumonia.

 During "infusion time" every single kid played in a game of uno. Each of these kids do hard things. One was hooked getting a bag of blood, he needs blood every 4 week to live, the other is in a hard part of chemo treatment, her mouth so full of sores it hurt to talk, the next is preparing for a bone marrow transplant in 3 weeks and Presley getting chemo. The adult is one of our favorites. Presley and Kelly are best friends. They give hugs and kisses when they say good bye. Today's clinic visit gave me hope. Its hard not to stop and think..wow..here is a table full of fighters! I had to take a picture! I need to remember these times. I don't ever want to forget that feeling I felt today. Proud to know and play uno with these kids. Its no fun to go to clinic and get chemo but its an amazing place. I am forever changed from today's visit.

Doctor Fluchel always has meds students following him around. Today the med student came into the room and practiced what she needed to do before Doc Fluchel came in. She walked in so excited to see Presley and said "Doc Fluchel said...you gotta met this cute girl." He knows I'm a good sport with the med students for most the part! NOT when they are injecting chemo into her spine. Sorry...no practicing with that. Doc Fluchel often has pictures to show us on his phone. Today's was worth sharing. He had went to Jiffy Lube to get his oil changed and found a his poster child patient! He was excited to share. We had a little filed trip when left clinic.
