Today was a first, the first day of school! With her never going to a preschool she really had no back ground knowledge of what school was all about. We read the story "The Kissing Hand". We made little hearts and kissed each others hands. After we read the story she was crying "HAPPY tears, mommy!" I reminder her that when she needed a little love from home that she just needed to look at her heart and think MOMMY LOVES ME! I loved having that little heart in my pocket while she was at school. I would pull it about and show brother! She was a little nervous but mostly excited and couldn't wait to do her homework when she got home! Today was a success. I thought today was going to be a hard day but honestly my heart was smiling! I have cherished those years at home with her. I'm glad she's only gone for 1/2 day. Next year will he harder..having her be gone all day. She's in the morning class with Mrs. Grant. She has 17 kids in her class and I know she's going to love school..just like her mommy!
Last night we went to an A M A Z I N G event put on by Zappos! WOW..they sure know how to do a back to school party! This event was for the cancer kids in Nevada! We started at 5pm with checking in and getting a mask. We then went to pick out a backpack, new pair of kicks (Vans) for the kids, then filled that backpack with every school supply you can think of! Then the kids got a picture taken with the Turtles...
We then saw Brittany Spears, she was at the event giving her autograph and letting the kids get pictures with her!
Next, we grabbed pizza and a drink and then sat in the courtyard taking it all in. After dinner we hit up the ice cream truck and then waited in line for the big balls in the water!
This was the favorite part of the night for the kids! We then went to the back part of the party to play on the bounce houses, petting zoo, and made a stop for some cotton candy! Balloons, face panting and carnival games were part of the night too! Then we headed back for more pizza and then to do the giant trampoline. What a fun night! I don't even know how to say THANKS! Zappos! has such a fun work environment and culture! Two thumbs up! What a fun night!
Here we go! Kindergarten here we come! School pictures, meeting teachers, new school clothes, school supplies, riding the bus, backpacks and so much more! I have very mixed emotions about Presley starting school. I LOVE having her home, that's why I never put her in preschool, but I know she needs this. She's ready to learn and to grow socially. I just want to do the past two years over!! She went from age 3-6 -way too fast. I'm thankful for remission and her health but I always feel cheated of the time we lost. My heart is heavy to see her go, but I'm smiling from ear to ear because I know she is going to love it! Crew is going to miss his little buddy but he too needs this. He's waited a long time for a little one on one time!!
Here are a few pictures of the Meet & Greet yesterday with Presley's new teacher!
After the Meet and Greet we took the kids to the neon (downtown Las Vegas) for lunch! Eat came recommended and it sure did not disappoint. If you are looking for a great breakfast/lunch place in LV this is a must.
We finally made it to OK! The end of summer was starting to get close and we still had not made a trip out to the see the OK family and spend some time at the LAKE! Jen Jen says she had to beg to get us there! We had a free weekend and last minute decided that a trip to see the Dawkins and spend some time at the lake was a great way to end summer! So glad we did. We had a great time. If you chase a rainbow and find the pot of gold at the end...it would be found at the Dawkins. They are golden for sure. So thankful for their love and support through all these years. LOVE you guys! We flew into Tulsa last Friday night, and headed for the lake Saturday morning. It's been 5 years since we have been to the lake. It was way overdue! The lake house was just remodeled, adding square footage and many upgrades! It's beautiful. We played on the seadoos, spent most of our time on the boat. The kids loved tubing and Presley even knee boarded! She tried skiing but got a little scared. It was a big weekend for Rylee and Breck. Rylee skied for the first time at age 5 and Breck knee boarded at age 3! It was fun to be apart of the "Firsts" celebrations. Rosie (Nana) and Jerry (Papa) were on the boat too! Jen and I even did a little tubing until we hit heads and I was left with a big knot on my head! We had so much fun. The kids played in the water and loved jumping on the big tramp out on the lake! We had great food and enjoyed being together. There is nothing like spending the weekend at the lake with family. My heart is full. Our kids are so close in age and have so much in common. I love it!
Sunday night we packed up and headed back to Tulsa to spend some time with Jen and Jerry. We got to enjoy their new pool! We swam, talked and swam. The kids sure loved being together and played so well. We need to make this a yearly tradition. Here we are swimming in Tulsa! I can't believe this is the only picture I got!
Tuesday we went to OKC and spent the day at the zoo with cousin Wendi, Dade and Beckham and Nana. We were spoiled! The zoo, dipping dots, matching bracelets, dinner at a yummy pizza place and then Papa took them to Braum for ICE CREAM! We had a great time in OK. It was sad to fly home and know that reality of school is going to hit fast! Oklahoma has a very special place in my heart! Nana and Papa treat my kids like their own. I'm forever thankful for their examples in our lives and their giving and loving spirit! My kids love going to O K L A H O M A!
