This is the view from our bed! Sunrise to sunset, this island might be my favorite Hawaiian island. I have visited Oahu and Maui! This island is the perfect honeymoon or no-kid island! Hiking, sailing, exploring, snorkeling, kayaking, heli-rides and plenty of good food and amazing beaches!
Breakfast was at The Wake Up Cafe! Famous for the macadamia nut cinnamon rolls. Amazing!
The north side of the island is so pretty! The rainfall makes this island so green.
Our last day on the island we hiked the Kalalau trail. We hiked two miles into Hanakapiai beach stopped for a break and took the beauty in and then on up to the Hanakapiai Falls for two more miles. We crossed the stream a dozen times, climbs on wet muddy exposed tree roots, and the last .5 was rock climbing. The beauty was worth the 4 miles in! We got to the water fall had lunch and then swan to the rocks behind the falls. Then swam under the massive water falls. The water was freezing but refreshing. After spending 30 min. at the falls we knew we better get headed back!
We had 4 miles to hike back. I still can't believe the people that hiked this hard trail with no water and slippers (Hawaiian way of saying flip flops!) I'm glad for my camback and a husband who is always prepared! The hardest part of the hike was the last two miles back of our 8 miles to Kee beach. It was hot and quite the incline.
7 hours later we made it back to the car to drop our packs and hit the beach, with a coconut in our hands! Beach. Sunshine. Repeat for maximum happiness! It felt so good to just hang out at the beach. My legs got quite the workout!! This is the same trail that some get a permit and go 11 miles to camp at the beach, taking about 3 days to complete!
We spent the rest of the afternoon at Kee Beach. Most people we snorkeling. We were relaxing after a long hot day of hiking. But that hike was so worth the beautiful views.
Then for dinner!
Paul counting the Tacoma's on the island. He was right at home with all the trucks. I think he counted like 55 of them just while we ate dinner. Bubba's had a great teriyaki pineapple burger! It hit the spot after a long day of hiking!
So thankful for the unplugged vacay with my husband! It's been over due! I fall in love with that guy all over again when I get to spend some time with just him! He's my favorite! Until next time Hawaii, its been amazing! Next on my list is the Big Island and taking the kids with us!
