Presley: my heart is smiling

Today after clinic we went on a family bike ride. Oh it feels so good to do something that "normal" families do! My heart is SMILING. After a long 7 hours at clinic today, my mind needed to let go. We live close to the Jordan River Bike Trail. That's a requirement for me, living close enough to ride your bike to the trails. I love it. Presley got blood today and had so much more energy. I can't tell you how good it feels to see your "sick" child doing what "normal" kids do. With a helmet on to hide the bald head you would have never known she had cancer. Just for the bike ride I pretended too. I let my mind drift back to the days when we lived in Colorado and went on long family bike rides with Presley riding and balancing along. It felt so good to forget about cancer for a few hours. Cancer is so mind consuming. Childhood cancer sucks.
My heart was singing to see her move those legs so fast. I was so proud to see her "feet up" and once again balance on the bike. You are amazing little girl. The mama in me didn't want to let her wear herself out. I keep suggesting she go back in the trailer. NO, she wanted to ride. Cheers for the blood transfusion today. For today she got to feel like a 3 year old and ride and ride to her hearts content. Brother was happy to just hang out in the trailer. I was surprised. The weather was beautiful. The night was a perfect ending to a long hard day of treatment.
