Today's clinic was fast. We checked in got vitals. Presley has officially grown about inch! They check her height each week and sure enough she grew! I could tell because this week she could touch her feet down on her pedal bike and her jammies looked a little short. We will take every inch we can get, chemo stunts the growth :/ Port access went good today. She even said when she was done. "I didn't cry today, I was brave!" Presley got to play with all the doctor stuff and give her doll a port access. She love to play Doctor. I think its therapeutic for Presley and gives her a chance to do role reversal.
Getting my blood pressure checked! The nurses are so nice to me! This is nurse Aubrey, she loves to play with me! |
I grew about 1 inch! This is my friend Pam, she always checks my vitals. |
Waiting to talk to the doc! |
Presley was a silly girl today at clinic. Giving herself a check up!
I LOVE Band-Aids! |
Remember last week after clinic that we ran into Doc Fluchel's wife and son at the park? Well...we knew it was Doc Fluchel's little girls birthday so we took a pink Strider bike to clinic today for his daughter. It was fun to talk to the Doctor today and he was so excited to see the picture of his little boy and Presley together at the park. Doc Fluchel really is more than just a Doctor to us. He will always have a part of our life and heart as we depend on him for so much.
Presley giving Doc Fluchel a pink bike for his little girl. She is 3 too! I get to play with her someday soon! |
We played games with another one of our favorite nurses...Aubrey, while waiting for the chemo to come up from the pharmacy. It wasn't a long wait but Presley was loving all the attention from the nurses. They too have become such a huge part of our life. We have a few friends here in SLC but the majority of our friends are the doctors and nurses!
Playing games and painting with Aubrey while getting chemo. No big deal! |
Silly girl today at clinic! Getting all ready to get my port removed! |
Look, my room got decorated! What a fun surprise to come home to. Thank you so much Meadows Ward Primary. |
Its a little blurry but here are the angels that decorated her room. We love you guys. These ladies come and teach Presley her sunday school lessons at home when she can't go to church. |
CBC- Complete Blood Count-results
ANC 400 (yikes, her immune system is low)
WBC: 1.3
PLTS: 132 (platelets, these are dropping)
Hct: 33.6 (red blood is holding on we won't need a transfusion yet)
Presley's ANC is 400 so it is considered nutropenic! Low levels of neutrophils (type of white blood cell) cause a lower ANC (absolute neutrophil count. Under 500 we have to be careful and really make sure to stay clean and clear of sickness. She has had a little cough again. It's the always returning cough. I am on the search to figure out why the cough comes and goes. It usually does not come with a fever but sometimes it does. Allergies? Who knows. I predict her numbers will tank in about 10 days from this last dose of Doxo. But the steroids inflate the ANC so her numbers will appear higher but she will still have a hard time fighting infections. If she gets a fever we will have to stay at the hospital. We love the masks, disinfectant spray and wipes!
7 Day..14 doses. We can do this! I think we can, I think we can.
I just wanted to tell you I think she is absolutely adorable! And as a fellow chemo-er, I did a red chemo too, I cannot remember the names of my 3 chemos, but I had a constant cough all though, and almost 3 years later still struggle with a cough, but am doing great otherwise! I am looking forward to the day when no one, especially children, have to go through chemo ever again. Best wishes.
