Cottonwood Heights 3 >3 Soccer Tournament

About a month ago Jim Geurts contacted us to tell us that we were chosen as the benefit family for the First Annual Charity Classic 3 >3 soccer tournament. Long story short, another cancer family "Ashtyn's Army" wanted to give back and they worked with Jim to find a family. One of our Colorado friends, Julie Cox who followed both cancer blogs submitted our name! Thanks for all of you involved in making this event happen for our family. We are amazed and so thankful for the strangers we have come into our life to meet and love. Cancer has taken so much from our family but I know that God gives back and these are those times! Our Heavenly Father never takes without giving. Presley and Crew has a way of winning hearts of complete strangers. There is so much good in this world. If you sit at home and watch the news, you don't get the same feeling but if you get out in the community you can see all the good going on in it!

She's a fighter!

      Each team had 6 players and they played at least 3-4 games. We had told Presley that these players were playing soccer for Presley and she thought that was pretty cool. She would tell us, "They are playing soccer for Presley". We watched the games and enjoyed the sunshine. For the past 3 days Presley has not had enough strength to walk, but last night at 8pm, she ventured off the chair and said "I can walk". I was so happy, she was able to go to the tournament and have a good time. We played at the park, rode our bikes, and of coure did a little swinging! Grandma was able to come and she even took home one of the raffle prizes.

 After each game was played the players re-grouped to learn who they would play next and to raffle off prizes that the community donated. Here is a list of some of the ideas donated: car washes, oil changes, Big-O-tires, free meals, gift cards, messages, soccer jerseys, tickets to the REAL soccer games,  Free night stay at the new  Hyatt in Salt Lake. There was also a silent auction for a free phone with a month worth of service and a beach cruiser bike!

I never have the right words of Thankfulness! We met a lot of new friends today. We needed a day like today to celebrate and feel others cheering us on. The past three weeks have been hard and stressful!  These types of events give us hope and remind us to keep strong and continue to fight! We love you Cottonwood Heights Soccer League!
