Today we went to clinic and Presley was count dependent. With her ANC being 100 on Friday we knew that she would probably not make counts today. We all made our bets on what her ANC would be. Mom thought 500, Dad 800 and Aubrey (nurse) 500 and Doc Fluchel 1,100. He just said it high to be different, we all knew it wouldn't be that high. Aubrey and I won--or we were the closest! Today's ANC is 200! Yikes still very low but her other numbers have recovered from the Chemo, so now we're just waiting for the ANC to recover. She has had a little runny nose the past day, sure praying it does not turn into anything. Presley was so glad to hear the news...it meant she could finally eat a snack! Can you guess what I wanted to talk to the Doc about today? Relapse. It always make me take a step back a remember that relapse is real and happens. It's our biggest nightmare. We also got the results from the urine test that we took a few weeks back. Her kidneys are doing good!
Today at clinic Presley was given the "real" mask of masks! The ones we wear when are numbers are low! She got to add jewels to the mask and put cotton candy flavoring in it to make it smell good! She's not too sure she likes it and likes the Mickey Mouse mask one better! Silly girl is still a little leery of new things. We made our return to clinic appointment for next week and will see what her ANC is next week. It's pretty common for the kids to not make counts this week from the last 3 doses of "Red Devil", it wipes the numbers out. We haven't had a blood transfusion or a hospital stay! Only 1/2 way done with D.I. but hoping to continue that trend.

Always something fun to do at clinic! |
I look happy to be wearing it but I really don't like this big mask! |
We got to go visit a special cancer buddy today that is in-patient. It was so fun to be in her room and feel the love that others have for her. Little Cami has the same diagnoses that Presley does. Cami was first diagnosed when she was 4. Went through 3 years of treatments then one year off treatment and then heard the devastating news that her cancer is back. We are heartbroken, but know she is strong and will keep fighting this fight. It has been a hard summer for our "Utah Moms with Cancer Fighting Cuties" group. We have lost angels in the fight and have heard the nightmare return for others. We want Cami and her family to know we are fighting it with them and will support them to the end! Presley has been talking about wanting to go visit Cami. We got her some gel pens (our favorite), a frog notebook (she loves frogs) and some treats! Last night she wrote on the hospital window so the "world could see".. "I want candy". We found out her favorite kind of candy and will bring her a treat tonight! Cami shared with Presley a few treats and told Presley "we are going to have matching bald heads, lets get matching hats". We love you Cami, Be Strong! As we walked out the hospital Presley said "I love Cami and I want her Leukemia to go away!" I was thinking the same thing.
We love you Cami! Stay Strong. Cancer buddies are the best! |
