We woke Crew up early and had a nice breakfast with candles and all!
We then loaded the kids up and headed out for the airport. Daddy took us on a flight over the Great Salt Lake. It was beautiful and just the perfect way to start a birthday! Crew was the co-pilot! He was in awe the whole morning. I'm sure he was thinking...."Is this really happening to me!"
Grandma and Grandpa were able to come and celebrate with us. They waved to us as we took off! The kids always cheer for daddy when he lands. They love getting to wear their headsets!
After the flight we went home to get ready for lunch at the park. We were told home health nurse was going to come and access Presley to give her the last dose of chemo but they never showed up. Aunt Sara and cousin Christine stopped by to say hello.

For lunch we invited a few friends to come enjoy lunch at the park. After arriving and getting the food set up...a special surprise showed up. Eric and Melissa and the kids drove from Colorado to come celebrate and spend the weekend with us. All the kids love it when they are able to spend time with each other and it's always a good distraction from the mundane everyday life. What a fun treat. Presley and Crew loved having the cousins to play with. We have been so thankful for cousins this summer and the distractions they bring to our crazy cancer life. We sang to Crew eat some yummy cupcakes and opened gifts. Everyone knows him well...airplanes and tractors. Thanks so much for all the gifts.
After lunch we headed home for Chemo! The nurse was never scheduled to come and they sent a different nurse. Birthday party and chemo made for a crazy day. Crew took a long nap. After his nap we got an early dinner and then left for the movies.
Today would not have been complete with out going to watch "Planes". We have all been dying so see the movie but waited until know so that we could all see it for the first time on Crewies big day. Everyone got a treat bag with airplane gummies, chocolate bears and suckers. I knew my kids were going to need a good distraction to make it through the whole movie. Paul got seated before the rest of us and called right when the movie was starting so we could skip the previews. This was just another attempt to make sure the kids would make it through the movie. Crew was so excited. This was a first for both kids to go to the theaters for a movie. Crew would cheer and clap and got so excited. When "Dusty"the main character was not flying he would tell me "Fly". He wanted Dusty flying! We gave him the Lego Duplo set and let him take "Dusty" in the movie with him. He sat on my lap with his candy and Dusty! He got up and went to Grandpa's lap once and Grandma's but other than that he was glued to the movie. He had such a great day doing what Crew loves to do! We took up a whole row with cousins, friends, and family. We love the movie, we are fans. We love Disney and airplanes it was just the magical for our little guy. I looked over at Paul a couple times and saw him a little teary eyed cause he loves seeing his kids take an interest in airplanes and his hobbies in life. Great moments today!
Crew...we love you so much! We are so sorry for all the distress in your life in the past year. We are hoping for a better year for you!
Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa, Nana and Papa Dawkins and all our Oklahoma family, Uncle Eric and Melissa and those that celebrated at the park! Thanks for thinking of our little guy!
