We had a few fellow cancer families (that had gone on this trip already) suggest that we extend our trip by 3 days if at all possible so we could have some "down time" and be able to fit in all the theme parks without Presley getting so exhausted. We would have been extra depressed if we wouldn't have taken this advice. It really was a sad day to see this week come to an end. We were thankful for the last 3 days at the hotel. It eased the hard transition to going home.
We had to check out of GKTW by 11am and could not check into our hotel until 3pm. We thought about going to Universal Studios but the kids really wanted to swim. So we went swimming for 2 hours at the village, got our last scoops of ice cream and spent every last minute enjoying our time at the 8th Wonder of the World (Give Kids The World)!!
This is what the kids did while we packed and did laundry. Having a washer and dryer has been so nice this week. We cleaned all our clothes before we left!
The kids were still hungry after oatmeal in bed, so we called to have the breakfast cart stop by. Donuts, muffins, cereal, bagels, milk and more right to your driveway. I could get use to this!
The weather today was another beautiful day. The weather was 83! I love this weather but could pass on the humidity!
We ate our last lunch at Katie's Kitchen
We went on one last train ride.
Paul's last scoop of Ice Cream. I think he was the one that consumed the most of ice cream on our trip!
Go big or go home, right? This was my last ice cream, actually my first and last! My figure does not stay the same when eating a lot of ice cream..like Paul! But I had to experince it at least once!
Crew and Presley enjoying the last ice cream from GKTW. I hope it's not the LAST forever. We want to take the kids back to Florida when they are teenagers and let them volunteer here and give back.
While on her wish trip we were given a rental car...a mini van. My dream car! I know..most people make fun of moms with mini vans...I don't care. These things were built with kids in mind. Both Paul and I loved the rental van all week!
Crew got a nap in when ever he was buckled in long enough to shut his eyes. We wore this little boy out!
We got dinner at the Olive Garden, the dinner was on the house when they learned we were on a "make a wish" trip. There was that magic following us again!
We went to bed early tonight. Both of the kids today had runny noses today but their energy levels were fine. :( toward the end of the evening before bed..Presley was running a low grade fever. I was sick that we even had to pull the thermometer out and use it.
The fever was just a reminder that cancer is still a big part of our life. It still dictates what we do and when we do it. I'm so thankful the fever never reached the point that we had to go into the ER. We did do a lot of touring but touring the oncology floor of the childrens hospital in Florida was not in the plans. Presley would have been devestated to have to spend her time while in Folrida at the hospital..we all would have been. Those silent prayers of "Please no" were heard. We were watched over for sure. When packing for trips or weekends away the hardest part is knowing what to bring in the "medication bag". Paul and I have a joke.."if you bring it, you don't use it...so we bring the whole medicine cabinet. As it always goes we had a huge bag of medicines and we had to stop at Walgreens and get something we "didn't' bring. I know it sounds crazy..but it always works that way. Its as if you determine how the kids are going to get sick but what you do or do not bring with you while on vacation.
Today was a relaxing day, swimming and enjoying every last minute of GKTW.
