I got up early got a quick bite at Orange Inn and then headed for my hair appointment.
I had made this appointment the first day on the beach and was so glad that I did. I have had curly hair all my life. I have straightened it, fought it and always dread when I'm in humidity. It's time to start embracing the curls and learn how to wear them correctly. The salon is only for those with curly hair. It was fun to be a room with only curly hair. It felt right. These girls understand curly hair! FINALLY, is what I wanted to scream. I have in the pasted used this new curl product and didn't know how to use it. So today's appointment was to learn. Boy have I been doing it all wrong. Good bye brushes, hair dryers and regular shampoo. Hello, clips, no-poo and wide tooth combs. I'm sad I didn't get a before and after picture. The girls at the salon were wowed by how curly my hair really is and that I have straitened for most of my life. I was sent home with a book and a cheat sheet and the rules of curly hair. I even got 2 complements on my curls on the way home from the beach in two different restrooms.
We could see Catalina Island from our room this morning. Its tiny right behind the sail boat!
We packed up, said our sad goodbyes to each other and the salty ocean air. I'm so thankful for a wonderful family and especially for Grandma for this wonderful gift! Thanks so much Grandma Crem! I love you! I'm also thankful for a wonderful husband who took such good care of the kids, even when they were sick. I didn't worry about the kids, they were in good hands. Thanks Paul for letting me have this break , it was well overdue! He didn't call once with an issues.
On our way home back to Utah we stopped in Irvine. We wanted to do a little tour of the Taco Bell Headquarters. It was family day at the headquarters and no one was there beside security and the greater. Next time we will schedule in advance a time to get the grand tour. My mothers uncle..or Grandma Crems brother started Taco Bell. That was our proud moment to see that building. I look forward to getting the full tour. I hear great things for the group that did the tour two years ago. This beach vacation trip has become a yearly tradition but I have been too busy with kids and no babysitter. This year I lucked out!
It seemed like the drive took forever, we fought the infamous traffic heading back to Vegas and then on into Utah. We stopped for In-N-Out. That is a must when traveling to California!
We got home late at about 9:30 pm. The kids were in bed. I was sad I missed them but knew they would be happy in the morning. I brought them a few treats from the beach. It always feels good to be back in your bed but I'm sure I was dreaming of laying on the chase lounge eating gelato! SoCal has been wonderful for me and just what this tired mama needed. I have got it on my calender. I'm looking for a babysitter for next year!
