After breakfast most of the group headed to the private beach. I set out on my own to explore a few more of Lagunas "must see" beaches. The first was Thousand Steps. No it's not actually 1,000 steps down to the beach but it was 250! That is why I was exploring on my own today. No one was looking for a stair stepper workout on their beach vacay! May locals come to this beach and walk/run up and down the 250 stairs 5-10 times. It was well worth the workout, up and down. The view was breath taking. This is a beautiful part of Laguna and many don't see because of the steps. I'm thankful I did. I saw the caves and rock formations, arches in the rocks, and caves. I was alone on the beach. I loved listening to the waves crashing on the rocks and sand. Thinking about all those steps and how it represented a journey in life. I enjoyed the morning to myself just listening to the waves crash on the beach and the sun on my face. This beach had the best sand and it also offers you a view of some of the most lavish house with their own fenced off areas and personal steps to take them from their house to the start of the sand.
With shaking legs I hopped back on the trolley for the Montage Resort. The beach below the Montage resort is Treasure Island. This is known for the arch in the rock, the tide pools, white fluffy sand and blue turquoise water. At this time of the day the tide was low and I was able to explore a little more of the tide pools. It was worth the long walk down! I was able to attend a tide pool seminar and take some beautiful pictures. I then headed home on the trolley.
We spend many hours as beached whales, talking, laughing and putting on lots of sunscreen!
The private beach at our hotel was always the meeting place. A few of the cousins decided to rent paddle boards.
My mom and I then went to Taco Loco for lunch. This is across from our hotel. Its a little taco shop with yummy nachos and tacos. In the same square block off of PCH was our hotel, Orange Inn, Ralphs (grocery store), Taco Loco and Taco Bell. The location was perfect!
I then spent a few hours laying in the sun and working on my tan.
This being our last full day at the beach I still have a few things on my list that I wanted to do. One was the Gelato. I had read online that many thought the Dolce Gelato was the best outside of Italy. I have never been to Italy but I must agree this stuff was yummy. I got the salted camel. I had already explored most of the south beaches of Laguna so this afternoon I took the trolley to the North shores. I did not stop, just rode the loop with the trolley. Next time I come back I want to spend some time at Chrystal Cove and Divers Cove, Seal Rock and walk around Heisler Park. I needed one more day to do all this but I hope there will be a next time!
For dinner we went with the whole group to Gina's Pizza. The gelato was too good to not share with the group so the rest of the group decided to join me for a second one for the day! They all agree this stuff was amazing. As aunt Michelle said "this is the best thing that has happened to me all year!'
We stayed up pretty late chatting and laughing. I love being around family. Its been a few years since I got to spend this much time with the Arizona crew. I loved being with each other at this beautiful locations. I have visited a fairly high amount of beach towns and this is one of my top beach trips. Southern California know just how to do it! Fresh orange juice, fish tacos, sun, sand and beautiful seas!
