Still I Fly

We went to see the new Planes movie last week. There is no denying that we love airplanes. Daddy's love for airplanes has rubbed off on us. There was one song that made me cry. I know, cry!

There are some songs that just speak what you are feeling and this is one of them. I'm having a hard time putting to words just how I feel. Paul finally moving to be a pilot has made these dreams his a reality. I have supported and be there every step. I have as much invested as him...well ok...hes the one doing all the hard work! I'm just his cheer leader! I know Paul's dad would be so proud of Paul and all that he has done in the past 5 years to make this dream a reality. He has worked so hard. I know this is why I'm so proud. 

He sold all his "toys" (motorcycles)

worked/studied his butt off

Sacrificed having extras for the larger goal

Gave up his free time

Worked full time as a Crane Op -another skill that made this career happen.

Ran a side biz/using other skills he had to make the money for flight training.

He was dedicated

Felt what it feels like to have nothing and have to ask for help.

Supported his daughter while in cancer treatments

Never quit, never lost sight of his goal

He gave it all he had

He never once took a semester off for his bachelor degree. 

Started his family and had two babies during this time

Paul had many road blocks (money, time, cancer) that could have made it easy to give up. 

One of the main ingredients is having people who believe in you. Paul has had a few people who knew he could do it and always supported him. 

This is my definition of hard work. 

One secret ingredient that sticks families together is their family history. I never want my children to think that their father being a pilot was easy. 

I'm sure there are still strong headwinds we will hit and battle but like the many we have already hit we have we have come up with an alternative route, we have gone to plan b. 

*I don't write any of this to brag or make anyone feel jealous or less of a person. The reason I write a blog is to remember. I want my children to know...the details of what hard work is about. I don't always remember those small details that make us who we are. I write my family history each time I write a blog. I also write so others can share in our joy.
