We then went to the "old hospital" to the pediatric treatment unit. We finally got to met Jason. He is the chemo nurse that worked at PCH that everyone kept telling us about. He was great with Presley and could tell when he was working with her she felt right at home, like we were at PCH. Port access was perfect. We did a CBC, got chemo in her IV and antibiotics. It did not take long for her to find the game closet, toy room and the treasure box. Mike the Child-Life Specialist also worked with Presley, painting and playing games on the i-pad.
Auntie also came to clinic, Presley was so excited to have these distractions. Me too. Clinic days wear me out. I have to come home and sleep it off. Auntie brought her a darling necklace and cupcake bites. Thanks Auntie for being such a great aunt. Presley adores you!
Presley's numbers continue to look good and are still a little high (higher than they want) so Doc Fluchel increased her nightly chemo. Her red-blood count and platelets looked great.
De-accessing her port today was a breeze. I'm thankful for Jason and Mike today to make Presley feel welcome and comfortable. I asked her if she liked her new clinic and she said "yes". We will do the SLC clinic one time, and the St. George clinic for 2 months in a row in her 3 month cycles. We only have 10 more months left!!! I can count that on both of my hands. I could jump with joy knowing that this is going to be coming to a end before too long.
As time continues to fly by, my thoughts often go back to how far we have come. I'm thankful to be able to look back and have a different prospective now.
