we made it- hope for a brighter future

Thankful for the past 10 days. Paul has been gone for the past 10 days out of state getting his multi-engine rating finished up. The class he took was not offered here in SLC. He's been working on this rating for way too long. It was time for it to get done. We finally made it to maintenance with Presley's chemo treatments where life is suppose to level out a bit. Not the case but hopefully soon that will happen. We knew that if the news came back that Presley's BMA (bone marrow aspirate) was clean of leukemia that Paul needed to still go to this class and get this rating done. I knew this was going to be a sacrifice for me but I needed to make this happen. Of course I was scared and nervous. So many things could have possible went wrong with Presley. With her ANC at 0, anything could have happened. I prayed no fever would pop up. I wondered how I would juggle having to be in-patient with Presley and where would Crew go? We could have had port issues like we did last time she was accessed for so long and we might have had clinic visits that we needed to go to. Crews croup could have flared up. My sickness could have stuck around the whole time. It's been a hard 10 days with the inversion, we can't go outside, I can't take Presley to the store. We have been in this house for 10 days..besides a birthday party. That might have been our saving grace. Everyday we ride the bikes in the hall. That was another saving grace. Got yelled out by the neighbor lady, "Yes I know we are not to be playing out in the halls" but it's all we can do. I just said nicely back that we understood. I wish people would try to really understand other peoples situation before they just decide to yell. We are all battling hard things..we have to try and be a little nicer to everyone.  Presley has been on IV antibiotics the whole time and that added a big task to the already long days without daddy. I'm thankful I'm not a single mom trying do this alone. Paul is such a good help. When the trash started piling up, it was then I realized I have lived here for 10 months and never taken the trash to the dumpster. Paul is a great helper...I'm so thankful for that in my life too.
I had angels who brought in food, who came to hang out so I could have adult conversation and a distraction for the kids, went to the store for supplies, brought in meals and checked in on me all week. My dad come for two days and took Crew to the Hill Air Force Base Museum for a day trip. Thanks to Andrae who took Crew on Monday to Story time and for a play date.
As I look back I know we have been watched and looked out for. The kids have been great. I have enjoyed playing with them and just being a mom.
I know this week could have turned out bad. I have a thankful heart that it went as smooth as possible.
Making sacrifices for each other is what life is about. I'm so glad Paul was able to finally move forward with his flight training. He passed his flight test and that was another celebration to add to our week. Paul was so nervous for this test. Hes been out of the game a bit, dealing with other more important things. We are hoping and praying for a job to open up soon. If not we will work on plan B. It will be good for all of us to get daddy back in the swing of things on his end. Having cancer part of your life is hard at any age or stage but its hard for me to not believe that our stage of life is especially hard. Raising young children is hard and challenging without cancer. Being a father, a collage student and transitioning to a new job is hard without cancer. Moving and being in a new city is hard without cancer. We know and recognize that our life situation is a tough one. We also know in the end things will work out. One step at a time is all we can take right now.
We have hope for a brighter future. We have hope that in the end it will all work out.

I only took a shower and they had the living room destroyed. Oh well...they were actually playing together. Made my day. Who cares about the mess.

Crew got spoiled today with grandpa. Not the best picture but he got a new flight jacket, so he can look just like grandpa. One of his favorite people! 

Angels brought dinner for me! Who's home health nurse brings in dinner? Ours does. She knew it was a rough week along and playing nurse all week gets old. Thanks Danika and many others!

Gotta go slow...she gets a nasty taste in her mouth from the saline. 

Success. Got her flushed, hooked up, flushed and hep locked and keeping her asleep! I love when that happens. 

Frozen party made our week. I'm sure we shouldn't have been "out" but sometimes you have to break the rules even when you have low ANC. This was our life saver this week

She loves to help Danika get a vial of blood. Will her ANC be 500? Nope...but I convinced the Doctor we needed to be done with all this. Her ANC was 100.

Brave girl today. She really was. I didn't have to hold her to get her sticker off. That's the hardest part. She helped get if off and was so brave. 

Oh the feeling of a bath...when you have been sponge bathing for a week or more it feels so good. I think she played in the bath for an hour. Hard for her not to get a bath at night. She loves her baths. Glad that port is De-accessed! Whew! The bruising happens so quick when your platelets are low.
